Nissan Note e-POWER HE12: Choose LN1 or LN2 12V Battery

Nissan's official HE12 12V battery chart distinguishes LN1 50Ah for e-POWER S equipment from LN2 60Ah for most other e-POWER grades. Identify the exact model year and equipment before buying.

Applies to Nissan Note e-POWER HE12 · 2016–2020 Japan-market Note e-POWER; variant-dependent 12V battery. 2016–2020 Nissan Note e-POWER HE12 (2WD), grade and equipment-specific; 4WD N2 designation noted only as a separate source row, not HE12 replacement interchangeability. Always compare the described parts, labels and specifications with your own vehicle and manual.

What you’ll need

  • Vehicle grade and production-month information
  • Existing 12V battery case label
  • Nissan official battery-grade table

Choose the correct manufacturer-backed specification

Use these source-backed checks to identify the option for your exact equipment. This is a selection guide, not a hands-on replacement procedure. If a component or label looks different on your car, stop and check your own manual.

  1. Step 1 of 6

Confirm HE12 e-POWER rather than E12 gasoline or newer Note

Check the chassis and powertrain in the registration or identification plate. Nissan's FAQ separates the e-POWER HE12 battery chart from the conventional E12 chart; do not choose a Q-85 or 55B24L gasoline-note battery because it appears in the same manufacturer document.

  2. Step 2 of 6

Determine whether the grade is e-POWER S

For 2WD HE12, Nissan identifies e-POWER S configurations as the important exception. The e-POWER S added in September 2017 and earlier e-POWER S without automatic air conditioning are both listed with LN1, while Nissan's other e-POWER 2WD configurations are LN2.

  3. Step 3 of 6

Match LN1 50Ah only where the Nissan S-row applies

For the listed e-POWER S variants, Nissan specifies an LN1 battery rated 12 V, 50 Ah. A seller's claim that every HE12 uses LN2 overlooks the exact e-POWER S distinction; verify the vehicle's grade and fitted battery before purchase.

  4. Step 4 of 6

Check LN2 60Ah for the remaining qualifying e-POWER versions

Nissan specifies LN2 12 V, 60 Ah for the other listed e-POWER 2WD grades, and for the separate 2018-on e-POWER 4WD configuration in the FAQ. The 4WD entry also has its own model code, so do not describe its parts as automatically interchangeable with HE12 2WD.

  5. Step 5 of 6

Read the actual 12V battery and verify fitment

Locate the existing auxiliary 12V battery using the exact vehicle owner manual, then check its printed specification and the equipment record. A correctly named LN size alone does not prove that terminals, housing, vents, registration requirements or replacement steps match; ask a qualified supplier or service provider when uncertain.

  6. Step 6 of 6

Keep the auxiliary and hybrid traction batteries separate

These LN1/LN2 designations apply to the low-voltage 12V auxiliary battery, not the high-voltage e-POWER traction battery. Do not touch high-voltage covers, wiring or orange connectors or attempt battery replacement from this identification article.

Where these instructions come from

2016–2020 Nissan Note e-POWER HE12 (2WD), grade and equipment-specific; 4WD N2 designation noted only as a separate source row, not HE12 replacement interchangeability

Nissan supplies grade-specific LN1 12V/50Ah and LN2 12V/60Ah fitment references. Specification verification is not a high-voltage or 12V battery replacement procedure.
