Toyota Noah ZRR85W warning lights: what each one means
15 warning lights from Toyota's own owner's manual, grouped by how urgently the manufacturer says to act, with the printed page or original web section for each so you can check the original.
Japan-market Noah ZRR85W 3ZR-FAE petrol 4WD using the January 2014 petrol manual. Match the actual chassis plate, instrument cluster, grade and options. This is not the ZWR hybrid manual, another Noah generation, an export manual or proof for every 2014–2021 production year. Equipment-dependent warnings apply only where fitted. Manufacturer first actions are not component diagnoses or permission for a DIY safety-system repair.
A warning light is the car reporting a condition, not a diagnosis of a specific part. If braking, steering or engine behaviour changes, stop where it is safe. If you are unsure, follow the manual and contact a dealer. This page does not replace a professional inspection.
A fault in the SRS airbag system or seat-belt pretensioner system.
What the manual says to do
Obtain Toyota inspection immediately. Do not probe airbag wiring or infer a repair from this warning.
ABS and brake-assist warningHave it inspected promptly
Manual name: ABS &ブレーキアシスト警告灯 · printed p.288
When it lights
An ABS or brake-assist fault.
What the manual says to do
Obtain Toyota inspection immediately. Do not apply a warning/reset procedure from another model.
Electric power-steering warningHave it inspected promptly
Manual name: パワーステアリング警告灯 · printed p.288, 290
When it lights
An EPS fault. Toyota distinguishes red and yellow indications; low battery charge or a temporary voltage drop can also trigger the warning/buzzer.
What the manual says to do
Obtain Toyota inspection immediately. Yellow means steering assistance is restricted; red means assistance is lost and steering can become very heavy.
If steering is heavier than usual, hold the wheel firmly and use more force than normal. This warning is not proof of a failed 12V battery.
Slip indicator: intervention versus faultHave it inspected promptly
Manual name: スリップ表示灯 · printed p.288, 194
When it lights
Flashes while TRC/VSC is intervening.
The warning table also lists VSC, TRC or hill-start-assist faults.
What the manual says to do
Distinguish normal intervention from a persistent warning. For the fault condition, obtain Toyota inspection immediately.
Do not treat the separate TRC OFF indication as the same lamp, or infer a fault just from normal intervention flashing.
Automatic headlamp-level warningHave it inspected promptly
Manual name: ヘッドランプオートレベリング警告灯 · printed p.288 · fitted on some grades only
When it lights
An automatic beam-level adjustment fault on equipped cars.
What the manual says to do
Obtain Toyota inspection immediately. This does not identify a bulb or prove the equipment is fitted.
Flashing Stop & Start cancel indicatorHave it inspected promptly
Manual name: Stop & Start キャンセル表示灯 · printed p.288 · fitted on some grades only
When it lights
Flashing indicates a Stop & Start system fault.
Steady illumination is described separately when Stop & Start has been disabled.
What the manual says to do
For the flashing fault indication, obtain Toyota inspection immediately. Do not treat deliberate cancellation's steady lamp as this fault or infer battery replacement.
Check and correct
Often caused by something you can check or correct yourself; see the conditions listed.
Door-ajar warningCheck and correct
Manual name: 半ドア警告灯 · printed p.289
When it lights
A door is not fully closed.
What the manual says to do
Close all doors securely. If the indication recurs despite correcting the condition, arrange Toyota inspection.
Low-fuel warningCheck and correct
Manual name: 燃料残量警告灯 · printed p.289
When it lights
The cited manual's approximate warning threshold is 7.2 L or less remaining; it is not the nominal tank capacity or a guaranteed driving range.
What the manual says to do
Refuel. Do not use the threshold as an exact refill amount or a guaranteed reserve distance.
Front seat-belt reminderCheck and correct
Manual name: シートベルト非着用警告灯 · printed p.289–290
When it lights
Driver or front-passenger belt is not fastened. Objects on the passenger seat can also activate its occupant sensor.
What the manual says to do
Fasten the occupied seats' belts. Do not bypass the reminder; match the actual occupied-seat condition.
Master warning and display messageCheck and correct
Manual name: マスターウォーニング · printed p.289, 291
When it lights
Illuminates or flashes with a buzzer and a warning message in the multi-information display.
What the manual says to do
Read and follow the exact displayed message; the master symbol alone does not identify a fault.
A brake-system or oil-pressure message on printed p.291 requires an immediate safe stop and Toyota contact. If a warning returns after the specified action, contact Toyota.
