02 / Methodology & reuse
Every number has a trail.
Scope. This atlas includes published CarFactBook records explicitly labeled engine oil capacity. It excludes transaxle fluids, transmission oil and unverified model-name assumptions. Each row is tied to a model/chassis code, year label and original source.
Extraction. We report the original answer verbatim. The numerical bars appear only when that answer explicitly states one oil-only and one with-filter quantity in litres. Unparseable statements retain their original citation and do not receive invented quantities.
For journalists and researchers. The CSV is provided as a reference index, with source URLs and attribution for independent verification. Cite CarFactBook's compilation if it helps your work, and review the original manufacturer publications for any reuse restrictions; this download does not grant rights to third-party content.
Quality limit. Figures differ by engine, grade, year and servicing method. A chart is not a replacement for the owner's manual or safe workshop procedure. Source verification dates describe when CarFactBook checked the reference, not when the manufacturer updated it.
