Tools and materials

  • Reliable tyre-pressure gauge reading kPa or bar
  • Air pump with controllable pressure
  • The original N-BOX JF3 tyre-pressure label and tyre sidewall markings

Follow these steps

Follow the written instructions in order; illustrations are optional, not a requirement for a complete guide. If a component or label looks different on your car, stop and check your own manual.

  1. Step 1 of 7

Match your actual wheel and tyre size before using any pressure

Read the tyre size moulded into your N-BOX JF3 sidewall and compare it with the vehicle's tyre placard. Honda's 2020 N-BOX specification gives different cold pressures for factory 155/65R14 and N-BOX Custom 165/55R15 packages. Do not apply a pressure value from one wheel package to the other.

    Check before moving on

All four fitted tyres' sizes are identified and the label matches the intended factory combination.

    All steps ↑
  2. Step 2 of 7

Select the correct front and rear figures

For Honda's documented 155/65R14 75S package, the table gives 240 kPa FRONT and 230 kPa REAR. For the documented 165/55R15 75V package, it gives 210 kPa FRONT and 210 kPa REAR. These are separate OEM packages, not two interchangeable alternatives. The pressure label on the exact vehicle takes precedence if it differs.

    Check before moving on

You've recorded the pressures for the correct tyre and grade, including front/rear distinction.

    All steps ↑
  3. Step 3 of 7

    Measure tyres cold whenever possible

Take readings before a drive or after adequate cooling, because tyres become warmer and their pressure increases when driven. Park on a safe, level surface, secure the car, and remove one valve cap at a time.

    All steps ↑
  4. Step 4 of 7

Take a reliable gauge reading for each wheel

Fit the gauge squarely over the valve stem so it seals with minimal escaping air. Record the measured value for the front-left, front-right, rear-left and rear-right tyres separately. Repeat doubtful readings before adjusting anything.

    All steps ↑
  5. Step 5 of 7

Adjust each axle to its verified target

If a tyre is below the exact OEM placard value, add air in short bursts and remeasure. If it is above target while cold, release a little air and recheck. For the 14-inch factory package, remember front 240/rear 230 kPa; for the documented 15-inch package, front and rear are 210 kPa. Do not use the tyre sidewall's maximum inflation figure as the normal cold target.

    Check before moving on

Each tyre matches the placard-supported cold pressure for its fitted axle and wheel package.

    All steps ↑
  6. Step 6 of 7

Inspect condition while each valve is accessible

Look for cuts, bulges, embedded debris and uneven tread wear on accessible tyre surfaces. Replace the valve caps by hand after checking each tyre. If any tyre has visible damage, do not treat inflation alone as a repair.

    All steps ↑
  7. Step 7 of 7

Recheck after adjustments and track recurring losses

Walk around the vehicle once more to confirm caps are fitted and the pressures were set using the correct front/rear specification. Check again periodically, before long trips and whenever tyre wear or handling changes. Recurring loss at one wheel needs inspection for a puncture, bead leak or valve problem.

    Check before moving on

All four caps are refitted and any persistent leak has been referred for diagnosis.

Where these instructions come from

Honda N-BOX JF3 2020 manual with original 155/65R14 75S or 165/55R15 75V wheel/tyre packages; actual placard and trim take priority.

Pressures are wheel-package-specific. This guide does not infer cold pressure from tyre sidewall maximums and does not transfer JF3 values to other generations or non-original tyre equipment.
