Honda Vezel Hybrid RU3: Replace the Reverse Lamp Bulb (12V 16W)

Honda's RU3 procedure for the reverse lamp: lever the cover off at its notch with a cloth-wrapped screwdriver, turn the socket anticlockwise, and push in a new 12V 16W bulb. Most other RU3 lamps are LED and dealer-only.

  1. Step 1 of 4

    Confirm it is a bulb, not an LED lamp

    Honda lists a 12V 16W bulb for the RU3 reverse lamp. The stop/tail lamps, number-plate lamp and high-mount stop lamp are LED, and Honda says to have those inspected and replaced by a dealer.

  2. Step 2 of 4

    Remove the lamp cover

    Insert the tip of a flat-blade screwdriver into the notch in the cover and lever the cover off. Wrap the screwdriver in cloth so the cover is not scratched.

  3. Step 3 of 4

    Turn the socket and remove the old bulb

    Turn the socket anticlockwise to remove it, then pull the old bulb out of the socket.

  4. Step 4 of 4

    Fit the new 12V 16W bulb

    Push the new bulb into the socket, refit the socket by turning it clockwise, and refit the cover.

    Check before moving on

    With the power mode ON and reverse selected (parking brake applied), the reverse lamp lights.
