RU3 wiper purchase: rubber refill or complete front blade?

A refill for the original blade and a complete aftermarket blade are different purchases. Bosch documents a front-blade application and a shape difference; Honda's existing rubber procedure does not establish refill compatibility with a changed blade.

Documented period: Bosch SILIKOMPLETT table updated 2 July 2024: RU1/RU2/RU3/RU4, December 2013 onward as printed. Honda rubber procedure remains scoped to the matching September 2018 original blades.

Buyer context: Pakistan / Kenya. The evidence remains Japan-market application data; destination-country stock and local factory fitment are not established.

Bosch SK65 driver / SK40 passengerManufacturer-listed application

The SILIKOMPLETT table prints abbreviated part numbers 65 and 40. Its key explains SK30 → 30, so the full product identifiers are SK65 and SK40.

Order by product line and side, and confirm the actual arm/attachment. These are complete Bosch blades, not Honda rubber-refill ordering numbers.
DOB on both front positionsManufacturer-listed application

Bosch defines DOB as a wiper shape different from the genuine product; it is a remark, not an adapter or a third blade code.

Confirm the replacement's attachment and appearance with the supplier. Do not assume the Honda rubber-changing sequence applies inside an aftermarket blade.
Rear SILIKOMPLETT blade / Honda refill OEM numberNot established here

Bosch's cited row says no compatible rear product in this line. Neither this row nor the Honda procedure supplies a current genuine refill ordering number.

Use a separate manufacturer rear application or chassis-specific Honda lookup; a front listing does not approve a rear blade.
  • Check what remains on the car: original Honda blade, previously changed complete blade, or an unidentified assembly. Refill profiles and retention details must match that assembly; matching a nominal length alone is insufficient.
  • Ask whether the quote is for two complete front blades, two rubber refills, or a rear item. Keep side, brand, full code, quantity and return terms on the order.
  • The Honda steps below apply only when the original blade design matches. A Bosch application listing is purchasing evidence, not an installation or adapter procedure.
  • For Pakistan or Kenya supply, request a destination-specific delivery quote and written application confirmation. No seller, local stock, price or all-year OEM supersession is approved here.

Tools and materials

  • Replacement front and rear wiper rubbers matching the original blades
  • Soft cloth or towel to protect the windscreen

Follow these steps

Follow the written instructions in order; illustrations are optional, not a requirement for a complete guide. If a component or label looks different on your car, stop and check your own manual.

  1. Step 1 of 9

Check whether the rubbers need replacing

Honda says damaged wiper rubbers leave streaks and can scratch the glass. Inspect them regularly and replace them when worn or damaged.

    All steps ↑
  2. Step 2 of 9

Lift the front arms, driver's side first

Raise the driver's-side wiper arm, then the passenger's side. Do not open the bonnet or operate the wipers while the arms are raised: Honda warns this damages the bonnet and the arms.

    All steps ↑
  3. Step 3 of 9

Slide each front blade off the arm

Push the release knob up and slide the blade off the arm. With the blade removed, Honda warns that a falling arm can damage the glass.

    Check before moving on

The blade is off and the bare arm is held clear of the windscreen.

    All steps ↑
  4. Step 4 of 9

Pull out the old front rubber

Pull the rubber until its stopper comes free of the blade's claw, then draw the rubber straight out of the blade.

    All steps ↑
  5. Step 5 of 9

Insert the new front rubber the right way round

Slide the new rubber along the blade with the end without the tab going in first. Refit the blade to the arm, then push the rubber in until its tab seats in the groove at the blade tip so it is held securely.

    Check before moving on

The tab sits in the groove at the blade tip and the rubber cannot slide out.

    All steps ↑
  6. Step 6 of 9

Lower the front arms, passenger's side first

Return the passenger's-side arm, then the driver's side, the reverse of the lifting order.

    All steps ↑
  7. Step 7 of 9

    Remove the rear blade

Raise the rear wiper arm and rotate the bottom of the blade to detach it from the arm.

    All steps ↑
  8. Step 8 of 9

Move the retainers to the new rear rubber

Pull the rubber to free its end from the blade claw and draw it out. Remove the retainers from the old rubber and fit them to the new one. The retainers are curved: fit them in the orientation Honda shows.

    All steps ↑
  9. Step 9 of 9

Thread the new rear rubber and refit the blade

Insert the rubber from the claw at the centre of the blade and pass it through the claws at both ends, then refit the blade to the arm and lower it.

    Check before moving on

The rubber runs through the centre and both end claws and the blade clicks onto the arm.
