Follow these steps

Follow the written instructions in order; illustrations are optional, not a requirement for a complete guide. If a component or label looks different on your car, stop and check your own manual.

  1. Step 1 of 7

Read the exact sidewall size and engine version

Check actual tyre sidewall size and BM5FS specification. The Mazda table distinguishes 205/60R16 from 215/45R18, and 1.5-litre configurations from 2.2-litre diesel.

    Check before moving on

Original wheel package and placard agree.

    All steps ↑
  2. Step 2 of 7

Choose the 16- or 18-inch target

For 205/60R16 92V use 250 kPa front/250 rear. For 215/45R18 89W fitted to a Mazda SKYACTIV-G 1.5 BM5FS use 240 kPa front/220 rear. Actual vehicle placard overrides this edition if different.

    Check before moving on

Tyre size and front/rear targets recorded.

    All steps ↑
  3. Step 3 of 7

Measure only when tyres are cold

Take measurements before driving or after sufficient cooling. Park safely, remove one valve cap at a time and keep it clean.

    Check before moving on

Wheels are cool and the valve is accessible.

    All steps ↑
  4. Step 4 of 7

Read front and rear pressures separately

Hold gauge squarely on the valve stem and note front left, front right, rear left and rear right values. Repeat any implausible measurements before adjusting.

    Check before moving on

    Four consistent readings are recorded.

    All steps ↑
  5. Step 5 of 7

Adjust towards the verified Mazda values

Inflate or release air in small increments, check again and use the specified figure for each axle. Mazda notes the driver's-side body label is the authoritative vehicle reference.

    Check before moving on

Every tyre matches its original vehicle specification.

    All steps ↑
  6. Step 6 of 7

    Inspect tread and refit caps

While checking each tyre, look for abnormal wear, bulges, cracks or embedded debris. Refit caps by hand and address any damage before continued use.

    Check before moving on

All caps secure and no obvious tyre problem overlooked.

    All steps ↑
  7. Step 7 of 7

Record the results and monitor changes

Keep the date and four pressure readings for comparison. Recheck periodically, before long trips and when handling changes or one wheel loses pressure faster than the others.

    Check before moving on

Pressure values retained for future comparison.

Where these instructions come from

Mazda Axela BM5FS fitted with the cited original 205/60R16 92V or 215/45R18 89W factory tyre packages; placard takes priority.

The 215/45R18 rear figure differs for 2.2L diesel variants (230 kPa); do not borrow those values for the BM5FS 1.5L. Non-factory wheel packages require further verification.
