Identify before you buy
Cabin socket references in the cited early BM manual
| What you have | What the evidence establishes | Next owner decision |
|---|---|---|
| F.OUTLET / cabin position 11 | 15 A; power socket | Match the actual cover and failed function. |
| R.OUTLET1 / cabin position 9 | 15 A; power socket, equipment-dependent | Confirm that the equipment exists on this car. |
| Absent or repeatedly failing fuse | Grade differences or an unresolved fault need evidence | Do not populate, bridge or uprate a circuit from this table. |
Selection aid only. An unknown or conflicting configuration needs confirmation before purchase.

Step-by-step instructions
Choose the correct manufacturer-backed specification
Use these source-backed checks to identify the option for your exact equipment. This is a selection guide, not a hands-on replacement procedure. If a component or label looks different on your car, stop and check your own manual.
- Step 1 of 5
Match the serial group and manual edition first
Mazda's manual index separates the early BM5FS-100001 onward group from later production groups. This resource uses its February 2015 PDF, not a newer Mazda3 manual or the 2016 BN edition. A New Zealand registration date can be later than production; use the imported car's chassis and matching documentation.
All steps ↑ - Step 2 of 5
Choose the box before the fuse label
The cited manual places fuse boxes at the lower left of the passenger area and in the engine compartment. Match its illustration and the actual cover rather than transferring a driver-side export-market diagram. Locations and ratings here are reference information, not permission to probe electrical or safety systems.
All steps ↑ - Step 3 of 5
Keep front and equipment-dependent socket entries separate
In the cabin table, F.OUTLET is position 11, 15 A, for a power socket. R.OUTLET1 is position 9, 15 A, and marked equipment-dependent. Those are not proof of which circuit failed. Identify the actual fitted socket, any recent charger/audio installation and what other equipment stopped working before a parts enquiry.
All steps ↑ - Step 4 of 5
Use the specified protection rather than a bypass
Mazda prohibits a higher-rated fuse or wire/foil substitute and requires inspection if a replacement immediately fails. The manual also warns that some fuse positions are absent depending on grade/equipment. A missing position is not automatically an installation defect or a reason to add a fuse. This article supplies no fuse-removal or circuit-probing steps.
All steps ↑ - Step 5 of 5
Give the technician a useful accessory-fault record
List the failed functions, when the fault began, recent accessory changes, manual edition and relevant box/label. Ask for the cause behind any proposed socket, wiring or module replacement. Keep the existing Q-85 battery guide separate: a dead accessory is not a battery diagnosis. No current accessory-harness or socket-part fitment is inferred here.
