Dolphin Surf battery and charging: three trims do not share one range.

The short answer

How do the original European BYD Dolphin Surf Active, Boost and Comfort editions differ in battery size, range and DC charging?

In BYD's May 2025 European launch table, Active pairs 30 kWh with 220 km WLTP combined and up to 65 kW DC charging. Boost uses 43.2 kWh, 322 km and 85 kW; Comfort keeps 43.2 kWh but reaches 310 km with its more powerful motor, and also peaks at 85 kW DC.

Applicable to: European BYD DOLPHIN SURF launch, 21 May 2025: original Active, Boost and Comfort. WLTP combined—not city, EPA, actual range or later national-market homologation.

02 / Before you use these values

Match the exact vehicle.

Check 1

Identify Dolphin SURF, not the larger Dolphin hatchback. Both names exist, but they do not share universal battery, service or charging specifications.

Check 2

The more powerful Comfort has a lower original combined WLTP rating than Boost despite the same rated 43.2 kWh pack. Do not assign the 322 km maximum to every trim.

Check 3

65/85 kW is peak DC charging power, not a flat charging curve; temperature, state of charge, charger and software matter. Match the exact car and its local manual before handling battery, charger or high-voltage systems.

Where the numbers came from

Primary source: BYD Europe launch 21 May 2025, original three-trim specification matrix. Every battery, combined WLTP and peak DC figure belongs to the same named version in one original manufacturer table; no third-party battery estimate, 2026 facelift extrapolation, usable-kWh assumption or high-voltage DIY procedure was added.
