BYD Seal: Design RWD or Excellence AWD? Check both range and power.
How do the original European BYD Seal Design RWD and Excellence AWD editions differ?
At its 2023 European introduction, BYD listed Design RWD with 230 kW and 570 km WLTP, versus Excellence AWD with 390 kW and 520 km WLTP. Both were announced with an 82.5 kWh Blade Battery; the faster AWD edition has a lower stated combined-range figure.

SEAL range or acceleration: make the same-basis comparison

RWD and AWD do not define the whole ownership decision
The European Design and Excellence AWD rows compare named configurations. Keep the same WLTP basis when comparing range; an AWD acceleration advantage is not a prediction of efficiency on a particular route. For your journey, check the actual state of charge, recent consumption and charging availability.
Do not use a European range or warranty statement as if it described a Sri Lankan distributor edition. A familiar trim badge does not establish the same equipment or local contract.

Choose tyres using the fitted package
A battery-capacity match does not approve the same wheels, tyres or alignment settings for both drivetrains. Read axle-specific tyre markings and the vehicle’s load/pressure placard, then confirm the exact model-market edition before ordering. This comparison contains no universal inflation pressure or high-voltage repair procedure.

Manufacturer-specified figures by configuration
These are manufacturer-referenced values for the named configurations only. Read the exact source for your engine, trim and market instead of carrying a measurement across model names or model years.
| Vehicle configuration | Published value | Context and limits | Manufacturer evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Original Seal Design · RWD | 570 km WLTP combined | 230 kW rear-wheel-drive motor · 82.5 kWh Blade Battery · 0–100 km/h in 5.9 s | View original source ↗ |
| Original Seal Excellence · AWD | 520 km WLTP combined | 390 kW two-motor all-wheel-drive · 82.5 kWh Blade Battery · 0–100 km/h in 3.8 s | View original source ↗ |
| Battery capacity · both announced editions | 82.5 kWh | Manufacturer-stated rated pack size, not usable energy; 2023 European introduction only | View original source ↗ |
Match the exact vehicle.
Check 1
Do not combine the longest-range Design value with the quickest Excellence acceleration as though they come from one configuration.
Check 2
WLTP is a regulated test cycle, not a real-world driving guarantee. Check the national-market brochure, factory tyre package and exact model year for your car.
Check 3
Seal, Seal U, Seal U DM-i and Sealion families are different. These battery and motor figures do not supply maintenance/repair specifications for any of them.
Where the numbers came from
Original trim contrast from BYD Europe's September 5, 2023 IAA announcement, including explicit motor power, drivetrain, shared announced pack size, WLTP combined range and acceleration per edition. We do not extrapolate changes in later production years or geographic editions.

This page is an original explanation of limited factual specifications. CarFactBook has not inferred an exact VIN, fitted replacement part, global-equivalent manual or unpublished service quantity.
Source count: 1. The original manufacturer's vehicle-specific manual and labels take priority if your exact car differs from these listed reference configurations.
