Early Fiat Panda and Panda 4x4 had different engines.
Was the original Fiat Panda 4x4 just a regular Panda with all-wheel drive?
No. The first Panda arrived in 1980; Fiat's UK historical account lists its initial 903 cc, 45 hp engine with four gears. UK Panda 4x4 sales began in October 1984 with a 965 cc, 48 hp engine, a five-speed gearbox and Steyr-Puch-developed driveline. Italy's 4x4 introduction was in 1983, so national launch dates must not be conflated.
Applicable to: Historical early first-generation Fiat Panda, with UK-market launch and initial engine variants; not a universal specification for later FIRE engines, 1108 cc Panda 4x4, fuel-injected cars or second/third-generation Panda.
Manufacturer-specified figures by configuration
These are manufacturer-referenced values for the named configurations only. Read the exact source for your engine, trim and market instead of carrying a measurement across model names or model years.

Match the exact vehicle.
Check 1
Determine country and build year; 1983 Italian launch and October 1984 UK availability describe different markets.
Check 2
Distinguish 903 cc original front-drive engine, 965 cc early 4x4 and later 1108 cc first-generation variants.
Check 3
For a specific engine/filter/axle component, Fiat's ePER original catalogue identifies VIN, production date and MVS/SINCOM equipment. It does not prove a part fits every Panda.
Check 4
Do not infer oil quantity, clutch compatibility, gear oil capacity or final drive maintenance interval from these historical power figures.
Where the numbers came from
The two powertrain comparisons come from Fiat's official UK forty-year model retrospective, and the date/late engine note from Fiat/Stellantis's original Italian Heritage Hub release. The original Fiat ePER VIN and vehicle-configuration documentation is a parts verification workflow, not a part-fitment promise. This page is an original explanation of limited factual specifications. CarFactBook has not inferred an exact VIN, fitted replacement part, global-equivalent manual or unpublished service quantity.
Source count: 2. The original manufacturer's vehicle-specific manual and labels take priority if your exact car differs from these listed reference configurations.
