Japanese Wagon R MH55S is not MH35S—or India's Maruti WagonR.

The short answer

Are the 2017 Japan-market Suzuki Wagon R HYBRID FX, HYBRID FZ and Stingray all the same chassis, engine and mild-hybrid equipment?

Suzuki Japan's 2017 original Wagon R records identify HYBRID FX/FZ as DAA-MH55S, FA as DBA-MH35S, and Stingray HYBRID X/T as MH55S while Stingray L is MH35S. Suzuki distinguishes R06A non-turbo 38 kW (52 PS) from Stingray HYBRID T turbo 47 kW (64 PS). A 33.4 km/L 2WD JC08 launch claim is a certification-cycle result, not a Sri Lankan fuel-consumption promise or a shared all-wheel-drive value.

Applicable to: 2017 launch-generation Suzuki Japan Wagon R/Wagon R Stingray MH55S and MH35S manufacturer digital library and launch releases, reviewed for Sri Lankan readers who own Japanese imports. Trim/engine/2WD-vs-4WD edition and chassis/registration must be verified. Not the India-market Maruti WagonR K10C/K12N, newer MH85S/MH95S or 2025 ZL/HYBRID ZX. No Sri Lankan homologation, spare-part equivalence, import price or workshop procedure is asserted.

Match the exact vehicle.

Check 1

Confirm the model/chassis plate: Suzuki Japan 2017 **DAA-MH55S** grades include HYBRID FX/FZ and Stingray HYBRID X/T; **DBA-MH35S** covers the cited non-hybrid FA and Stingray L. The year, exact trim and market determine the applicable manual.

Check 2

The 2017 launch uses a 658 cc R06A engine family across these named Japanese editions. Stingray HYBRID T is the 47 kW turbo example, while the specified non-turbo rows are 38 kW; parts and fuel recommendations must NOT be swapped by engine displacement alone.

Check 3

Suzuki's **33.4 km/L (2WD)** and **30.4 km/L (4WD)** are JC08 figures in a *specific 2018 hybrid anniversary edition table*. They are not claims for every 2017 2WD, turbo Stingray, imported car or actual urban fuel economy in Sri Lanka.

Check 4

The mild-hybrid MH55S has a Suzuki 12V lithium-ion energy-storage subsystem, for which Suzuki publishes a specialist **vehicle-dismantler removal manual**. That industrial document is not an owner battery-replacement instruction. Do not remove, open, short or repurpose hybrid battery modules.

Check 5

The vehicle's conventional starting/auxiliary battery, hybrid lithium pack and coin-cell smart key are different battery systems. Confirm Suzuki's exact trim and owner manual and have a qualified workshop diagnose warning indicators.

Check 6

The Japanese Wagon R 660 cc MH55S/MH35S is **not** the Indian Maruti WagonR 998/1,197 cc K10C/K12N. Neither manufacturer offers grounds to use Indian oil, coolant, gearbox, fuel-tank or key-battery specs on an imported Japanese chassis.

Check 7

Suzuki's source documents used here do not supply a consistently verified nominal MH55S fuel-tank capacity for all these trims. CarFactBook intentionally does not publish a guessed litre figure or infer distance-to-empty from JC08 km/L. Verify the precise Japanese owner manual or Suzuki grade spec before adding that answer.

Where the numbers came from

Cross-referenced Suzuki's original 2017 Wagon R and Stingray digital-library specification tables with its dated 2017 launch description, 2018 25th-anniversary FX/FZ 2WD-vs-4WD JC08 tables, and original Suzuki safety publication for licensed MH55S vehicle dismantlers (https://www.suzuki.co.jp/about/csr/recycle/traders/pdf/TORIHAZUSI_MANUAL_MH55S.pdf). Avoided conflating 2017 with 2018 limited editions, turbo with non-turbo, hybrid with non-hybrid, a Japan kei chassis with India's Maruti WagonR, and cycle economy with Sri Lankan driving or petrol tank capacity.
