Alphard 40 petrol: the 4WD has a smaller tank.

The short answer

Does the 4WD Toyota Alphard 40 (AGH45W) have the same fuel tank as the 2WD AGH40W?

No. Toyota's June 2023 to January 2025 catalogue lists 75 L for the FF 3BA-AGH40W and 65 L for the full-time 4WD 3BA-AGH45W, although both use the 2.5 L 2AR-FE with Super CVT-i and regular unleaded fuel.

Applicable to: Japan-market Alphard 40 series, petrol 2AR-FE Z grade, sold 2023-06 to 2025-01. Hybrid AAHH40W/AAHH45W and plug-in hybrid versions are not covered.

02 / Before you use these values

Match the exact vehicle.

Check 1

Check the model code on the registration: AGH40W is 2WD (FF), AGH45W is 4WD. Do not assume the larger tank on a 4WD car.

Check 2

Hybrid Alphard 40 (AAHH40W/AAHH45W) and the plug-in hybrid are separate vehicles; these petrol values do not apply to them.

Check 3

Weights and tyres are for the Z grade in this sale period; later editions may change them.

Where the numbers came from

Transcribed from Toyota Japan's official grade specification pages for the Z grade of each model code in the June 2023 to January 2025 sale period. The difference row is a simple subtraction of the two published capacities.
