Crown Crossover: which version needs premium fuel?

The short answer

Does the Toyota Crown Crossover need premium (high-octane) petrol?

It depends on the powertrain. Toyota lists premium unleaded for the 2.4 L turbo hybrid 5AA-TZSH35 (T24A-FTS, RS Advanced) and regular unleaded for the 2.5 L hybrid 6AA-AZSH35 (A25A-FXS, G Advanced). Both have a 55 L tank and full-time 4WD.

Applicable to: Japan-market Crown Crossover sold 2022-09 to 2024-04. Tyre sizes and weights are for the named grades only. Export Crown versions are not covered.

02 / Before you use these values

Match the exact vehicle.

Check 1

Check the model code: TZSH35 (2.4 L turbo) requires premium, AZSH35 (2.5 L) uses regular. The 'Crown Crossover' name alone does not tell you.

Check 2

Japanese premium and regular grades are rated on a different octane scale (RON) from US pump ratings; follow the fuel label on the filler flap in other markets.

Check 3

Tyre sizes differ by grade (21-inch RS Advanced versus 19-inch G Advanced in this period).
