2025 Silverado Spark Plugs: Factory Gap and Normal Service Timing
Do the 2025 Silverado TurboMax and gasoline V8 engines use the same spark-plug gap and replacement interval?
No. The original manual lists L3B at 0.65–0.75 mm with a 60,000-mile normal-service replacement point, while L84/L87 use 0.95–1.10 mm and 97,500 miles. Chevrolet says the plugs are factory-preset and does not recommend re-gapping.
Applicable to: 2025 United States Silverado 1500 gasoline L3B 2.7L L4, L84 5.3L V8 and L87 6.2L V8; owner manual 87855274 B, 31 October 2024 revision. Gap: printed 435 / PDF 436; Additional Required Services—Normal: printed 427 / PDF 428. Not an all-year Silverado specification, a severe-service override, a part-number fitment claim or a diesel/EV procedure.
Use both the engine row and the schedule heading
Applies to: 2025 gasoline 1500 reference only. Printed 435 supplies the gap; printed 427 supplies the normal-service replacement points. The two answer different owner questions.
Carry the RPO into the parts and service enquiry
Chevrolet’s technical table ties L3B to VIN engine character K, L84 to D and L87 to L. This helps separate the 2.7-litre four-cylinder from the 5.3- and 6.2-litre V8s. The rest of the vehicle’s VIN, fitted equipment and current parts information still matter.
The table’s gap range alone does not establish an aftermarket part number, installation torque or compatibility with another model year. Ask the supplier or workshop to identify the actual engine and current approved replacement before ordering.

A published range does not authorise bending the electrode
The note directly under the engine table says the manufacturer presets spark-plug gaps and that re-gapping is not recommended because it can damage a plug. Preserve that note when comparing a replacement listing with the original gap range.
An ignition symptom also does not prove that changing the gap or replacing plugs is the repair. Warning messages, misfire conditions, wiring and the actual service history need their own diagnosis. This reference supplies no removal procedure or universal fault-code diagnosis.

The interval belongs to the normal-service section
The additional normal-service schedule separates the 2.7L turbo’s 60,000-mile row from the V8 engines’ 97,500-mile row. It also names inspection of wires and/or boots. Sharing a model badge is not a reason to use the four-cylinder interval on a V8 or vice versa.
Printed page 426 separately describes severe-use circumstances such as frequent towing, hot heavy traffic and certain commercial work. Use the matching full schedule and current VIN-specific instructions for that use. This article does not turn a normal-service row into a complete severe-service package or a promise that any particular plug lasts to that mileage.

Match the exact vehicle.
Check 1
The VIN eighth-character row identifies an engine reference; it does not identify every fitted part or option.
Check 2
Plugs are preset by the manufacturer. Chevrolet warns re-gapping can damage them; these ranges are not a DIY adjustment instruction.
Check 3
Normal-service rows also call for inspection of spark-plug wires and/or boots. Match actual equipment and any more specific current manufacturer instruction.
Where the numbers came from
Original GM owner manual visually checked: engine/RPO/VIN/gap table and immediately following preset-gap warning printed 435 / PDF 436; full Normal Service page 427 / PDF 428 with engine-only qualifications; severe-use definitions on printed 426 / PDF 427. Exact existing catalog engine identities cross-checked; no new chassis or aftermarket part number invented.
