India Swift Z12E: Oil With Filter and Model-Edition Limits
Can the old 1,197 cc Swift or WagonR oil quantity be used for the new three-cylinder Swift?
Use the Z12E manual. Maruti’s current Swift specification identifies Z12E and approximately 3.1 L for oil replacement with the filter, alongside its oil quality and SAE 0W-16 requirements. The shared 1,197 cc figure does not select an older engine’s refill.
Applicable to: Maruti Suzuki India petrol Swift Z12E; current linked manual 99011M75T08-74W, cover August 2026, selected for cars sold on/after 9 July 2024. The PDF p.2 extracted text layer retains an August 2024/75T03-74E imprint absent from its visible rendering. This article is bounded to the retrieved table, not universal historical or CNG compatibility.

The engine row prevents a plausible wrong refill
The current table identifies a three-cylinder Z12E, while the earlier K12N comparison describes a different engine. Displacement alone cannot choose the service amount. Carry the engine and applicable manual into the workshop request before comparing oil-change quotations.
The 3.1 L entry explicitly includes filter replacement. It does not supply a separately verified oil-only quantity, and it should not be used as an amount to add whenever the level reads low.

An approximate table does not replace the final check
Maruti labels the listed capacities as guides and says the actual replacement amount may differ. Match the correct oil quality and viscosity as well as the quantity, then use the matching manual’s final inspection instructions.
This article does not reproduce a drain-plug torque or filter installation sequence. The engine, operation and correct lubricant need to agree before work begins; a litre figure alone does not make a complete DIY procedure.

Keep the revision limit visible
The official directory gives a petrol sale-date selection, and the downloaded cover names August 2026. The older imprint in the extracted text layer, absent from the visible copyright page, is a reason to check the delivered edition, not evidence that every earlier Swift accepts the same table.
For CNG equipment, use the required supplementary manual. For an older K12M or K12N Swift, obtain its original specification instead of back-applying a current Z12E value.

Match the exact vehicle.
Check 1
No separately supported oil-only amount is inferred.
Check 2
The current cover and inconsistent extracted text layer do not establish every earlier car’s manual.
Check 3
A top-up follows the level check, not the complete replacement amount; this is not an underbody drain procedure.
Where the numbers came from
Selected Petrol on the original Maruti manual directory. Visually checked cover (PDF 1), Z12E engine table (PDF 396) and complete approximate capacities table (PDF 398); compared the visible PDF 2 copyright page with its inconsistent older extracted text layer. The August 2026 cover and mixed internal revisions are recorded without inventing a model-year equivalence.
