India's WagonR 1.0 and WagonR 1.2 are not the same engine.

The short answer

Which engine does an Indian Maruti Suzuki WagonR 1.0 or 1.2 use, and do they have the same petrol tank?

Maruti Suzuki identifies India WagonR 1.0 with the 998 cc K10C and India WagonR 1.2 with the 1,197 cc K12N engine. Its published petrol vehicle range lists a 32-litre fuel tank. The manufacturer brochure lists 25.19 km/l for its 1.0L VXi AGS reference against up to 24.43 km/l for 1.2L petrol AGS; both are original claimed cycle figures, not daily driving guarantees.

Applicable to: Maruti Suzuki India 2025 WagonR petrol manufacturer brochure and current model page, K10C 1.0L versus K12N 1.2L; two-wheel-drive named editions and specified AGS reference only. Not Japan Wagon R or all production years.

Before a WagonR service: distinguish engine, transmission and fuel system

Applies to: Maruti Suzuki India 2025 WagonR petrol manufacturer brochure and current model page, K10C 1.0L versus K12N 1.2L; two-wheel-drive named editions and specified AGS reference only. Not Japan Wagon R or all production years.

Do not choose an oil quantity from displacement alone

The manufacturer’s K10C and K12N identifiers give a better starting point than the WagonR name. Write down the actual engine, petrol/CNG configuration, transmission and build edition before asking for an oil filter, drain quantity or gearbox lubricant. This brochure comparison does not supply those service specifications.

AGS is a transmission designation in the named India range, not proof that a CVT-fluid reference from a Japanese Wagon R applies. An India K12N car and a Japan kei hybrid need separate manuals even if both are advertised as economical city cars.

Compare efficiency under matching conditions

The named certified figures are useful only with their engine and transmission labels. Keep the same test cycle when comparing cars; a brochure rating cannot predict a congested Sri Lankan journey or establish a local maintenance interval. New oil/gearbox quantities remain unfilled until an original applicable service document is available.

02 / Before you use these values

Match the exact vehicle.

Check 1

Look up India 1.0 K10C versus 1.2 K12N by the actual registration, engine bay label, build year and Maruti trim; parts and oil quantity are not interchangeable.

Check 2

The Indian 32-litre petrol tank is not the same as the 60-litre water-equivalent CNG storage number; neither is Japan Wagon R's fuel tank without direct evidence.

Check 3

Maruti's certified India test values must not be compared numerically with Japan WLTC/JC08 as if the test cycles and vehicles were identical.

03 / Verification and next answers

Where the numbers came from

Used Maruti Suzuki current Indian WagonR engine/tank model information and its manufacturer-published 2025 Indian vehicle brochure identifying K10C, K12N and named AGS certification. Kept CNG volume and Japan-market names separate; no model-year-specific oil volume, gearbox oil or parts compatibility invented.

This page is an original explanation of limited factual specifications. CarFactBook has not inferred an exact VIN, fitted replacement part, global-equivalent manual or unpublished service quantity.

Source count: 2. The original manufacturer's vehicle-specific manual and labels take priority if your exact car differs from these listed reference configurations.
